PICK 5 is a fun and exciting game offered by the Pennsylvania Lottery, it has many ways to win and worthwhile prizes. The PICK 5 game has Day and Evening draws, 7 days per week. The maximum prize amount for the PICK 5 game is $50,000 for the base game or $12,000 for the Wild Ball addon. Drawings for the "Day" game are held every day at 1:35 PM, while the "Evening" numbers are drawn at 6:59 PM respectively. Both the Day and Evening game draws can be watched on television or streamed online.

The PICK 5 Day and the PICK 5 Evening games share the same rules, odds, parameters and prize amounts.

How to Play PICK 5

To play PICK 5, a player chooses between 1 and 5 "panels" on their payslip. Each panel can be considered as a "play" or "game". On each panel selected, a player can choose any 5 digit number between 00000 and 99999, or they can use the "Quick Pick" option to have the computer randomly select numbers for them.

Play Type

Next, a player needs to select their play type. There are eight play types as listed below.

Straight Play

To win a "Straight" play, players need to match all 5 digits in exact order. This wins the top prize of $50,000.

Box Play

There are 6 ways to win on a "Box" play as explained below.

1. 5 way box - Player matches 4 digits plus 1 different digit. This wins $10,000.
2. 10 way box - Player matches 3 digits plus 1 different pair of digits. This wins $5,000.
3. 20 way box - Player matches 3 digits plus two distict digits to win $2,500.
4. 30 way box - Player matches 2 different pairs of digits plus 1 distinct digit to win $1,700.
5. 60 way box - Player matches 1 pair of digits plus 3 distict digits to win $850.
6. 120 way box - Player matches any 5 distinct digits to win $425.

Front Four

To win a "Front Four", a player needs to match the first 4 digits in exact order. This win pays $5,000.

Back Four

To win a "Back Four", a player needs to match the last 4 digits in exact order. This win pays $5,000.

Front Three

To win a "Front Three", a player needs to match the first 3 digits in exact order. This win pays $500.

Back Three

To win a "Back Three", a player needs to match the last 3 digits in exact order. This win pays $500.

Front Pair

To win a "Front Pair", a player needs to match the first 2 digits in exact order. This win pays $50.

Back Pair

To win a "Back Pair", a player needs to match the last 2 digits in exact order. This win pays $50.

Wild Ball

The "Wild Ball" is an addon for PICK 5. While the game rules and logic remains the same, the prize amounts for Wild Ball wins are lower, since it greatly increased a players odds of winning. The prize amounts for Wild Ball wins are shown below.

1. Straight - $12,000.
2. 5 way box - $2,400.
3. 10 way box - $1,200.
4. 20 way box - $600.
5. 30 way box - $400.
6. 60 way box - $200.
